Many years ago, I had a powerful dream. In my dream, I saw what looked like a lake, but it was actually a swamp. In this swamp there were many people. They were trying to get out and were flinging their arms about, but only succeeded in sinking deeper into the muddy water. Their situation was hopeless.
But at the edge of the swamp stood Jesus. He was on dry ground, and His arm was outstretched over the swamp. Anyone in the swamp who grasped His hand was pulled out to safety by Jesus. But most of the people were trying to get out by themselves. They never made it, and sank deeper and deeper until they disappeared into the mud. Over the years, that dream has never left me, and I see how true it is even today.
Dear Reader, only Jesus Christ can save you, because only by “grasping His hand” can your sins be forgiven – and they are many. If you try to find acceptance with God by “being good”, you will never succeed – you are too sick to save yourself. Neither can any religion (including Christianity) save you. Only Christ can.
Jesus said: “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son [a title, not to be understood literally!], that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3, 16 in the Bible).
Grasp the hand of Jesus while there is still time. Tomorrow may be too late.
